About The Role
Join our Visual Resources Team as a Trainee Digitisation Technician in this Fixed Term role (18 months) and help preserve and provide access to our unique film, video, and sound collections. You’ll be part of a skilled team working in a specialist lab environment, learning how to handle some of the most fragile and historically significant items in our care.
What You’ll Do
* Learn to digitise film, video, and sound to preservation and access standards.
* Assess, prepare, and scan materials using high-end equipment.
* Edit and process digital files using professional software.
* Support internal teams and research visitors with digital content.
* Maintain accurate records and follow museum standards for collections care.
* Receive hands-on training in digitisation, conservation, and safe lab practices.
Who You Are
* You have a qualification in a relevant technical subject (A-level or equivalent).
* You’re eager to learn and develop specialist digitisation skills.
* You’re organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage your own workload.
* You’re confident using computers and digital systems.
* Bonus if you have experience with video editing software, large data workflows, or film archiving.
