Senior Finance Business Partner - Fixed Term Contract up to 12 Months

About The Role
As a key member of the Finance Directorates senior management team, this role is responsible for all financial matters relating to the relevant functional directorate. Specifically focussed on commercial support and challenge but also, through team support, delivering month end, planning, reporting, project accounting and benefits tracking responsibilities whilst ensuring appropriate controls and financials disciplines are in place as well as provision of day to day finance support. Proactively provide insight and challenge to enhance decision making and seek out opportunities to improve commercial outcomes in a fast-paced environment. This requires active relationship building and strong financial leadership to ensure the job holder is a respected and integrated member of the functional team, included in all the appropriate decision making forums and processes. Team management skills are required but also the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are critical.
Accountabilities
* Commercial Decision Support: Work hand in glove with Director & senior management team whilst maintaining commercial objectivity pro-actively providing financial analysis, data driven challenge & information to enable the team to make the right decisions
* Financial Leadership: Establish a disciplined approach to evaluation of commercial opportunities but actively seek out opportunities to improve business performance and obtain buy in along the way
* Commercial Awareness: Demonstrate commercial awareness and holistic thinking to credibly challenge decision making & address KPI performance
* Financial Planning & Project Accounting: Develop and maintain appropriate schedules for financial performance, financial simulations, business cases and project accounting. Hold the department to account on the commitments and highlight both cash and P&L implications
* Reporting: Ensure appropriate reporting is in place and provide insight into KPI’s ensuring these are aligned to the business objectives
Financial Planning & Forecasting
* Forecasts & Budgets: Oversee delivery of regular financial forecasts, budgets and latest views including packs and supporting analysis ensuring appropriate reviews are in place and business buy in is obtained
* Planning Cycle: Ensure process is aligned to wider planning cycle and drive integration of seasonal planning within the function, liaising cross-functionally for consistency
* Understanding: Work with FP&A and other stakeholders to enhance understanding
Month End Reporting and Commentaries
* Month end process: Ensure smooth month end process and hold the function to account on performance against comparatives, identifying opportunities and risks
* Commentary: Liaise with reporting teams to ensure numbers are understood and onward commentary is provided, appropriate, timely, on format and insightful
* Balance sheet: Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, communicating risks and opportunities
* Audit: Manage Internal and External Audit interaction and ensure appropriate schedules in place
Leadership & Relationships
* Finance representative: Within senior team forums
* People management: Undertaking and contributing to regular one to ones and annual performance management processes
* Relationships: Build relationships across the business & Group earning trust in the business department and displaying the FGH values
* Controls: Provide financial leadership and ensure controls & disciplines are adhered to
* Collaboration: Keep close relationship with reporting team to ensure understanding of actuals vs forecast & potential risks and opportunities
Miscellaneous
* Deputise for Head of Finance
* Ad hoc tasks as they arise
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable UK and local regulations, Company Policies and FCA Conduct Rules
* Health & Safety: Demonstrate behaviours in line with company values and take reasonable care for health and safety
About You
* Strong commercial understanding of business and retailing. (K)
* Previous role held in a commercial or retail environment. (E)
* Business partnering experience with strong sense of customer focus and objective challenge
* Professional qualification with 2 years PQE (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
* Production of month end accounts
* Production of end to end budgets / forecast
* Retail or consumer business experience
* Strong Excel & modelling skills, tables, spreadsheets, graphs etc
* Excellent presentation skills both visual and oral
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to understand key business cost drivers, profitability and decision support modelling
* Ability to forge effective business relationships across the business at all levels
* Good relationship building skills with objective challenge
* Attention to detail and holistic viewpoint
* Staff management skills
* Financial qualifications (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
* Maths and English grade C or above, or equivalent
* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines with high levels of accuracy
* Personable and professional with good relationship-building skills
* Able to commute to Bradford city centre and work additional hours to ensure projects completed on time
