Flying Start Early Years Development Assistant Contract Type: Fixed term grant funded until March 2028, extension dependent on grant funding.
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week
Location of post: Hybrid working, based at Taibach Library, Commercial Road, Taibach, Port Talbot, SA13 1LN
Due to continued expansion, we are currently looking for a Flying Start Early Years Development Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Early Years, Childcare and Flying Start Team in Neath Port Talbot to develop and support quality childcare settings as part of the Flying Start expansion and Welsh language development within the sector.
Your role will involve enhancing the quality of childcare settings through workshops, training, and mentoring staff, focusing on maintaining and developing play environments in line with the new early years curriculum and ALN Reform.
The main duties include:
Supporting the development of activities and experiences suitable for two-year-olds in Flying Start settings.
Ensuring Flying Start settings meet quality standards outlined by Welsh Government guidelines.
Building effective relationships with childcare settings and facilitating smooth transitions to education providers.
Collaborating with multi-agencies and engaging parents in Flying Start initiatives.
Requirements include:
Experience working in childcare and a good understanding of the Early Years Curriculum.
A Level 5 or equivalent Early Years and Childcare qualification (or working towards it), as listed by the Care Council for Wales. Candidates with significant experience and working towards Level 5, or with relevant school-based qualifications, may also be considered.
Flying Start is a Welsh Government initiative supporting pre-school children and their families in targeted areas to achieve positive outcomes.
