Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Welsh secondary school in Blackwood, Caerphilly. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are eager to make a positive impact on the lives of students aged 11-18, supporting those with special educational needs (SEN). Key Responsibilities: Assist teachers in providing tailored support to students with a variety of special educational needs, using the Welsh language. Provide one-on-one support to students during lessons, ensuring engagement and comprehension. Utilize sensory activities, practical lessons, and structured development plans to meet individual learning needs. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages participation and growth. Support the development of students’ social skills and confidence, contributing to their overall well-being. Collaborate with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students. Qualifications and Skills Required: Fluent in Welsh – both written and spoken, as the role will involve working through the medium of Welsh. Experience in a similar educational or support role is preferred but not essential. Experience in sports coaching, youth work, health and social care, or working with children will be beneficial. Compassionate, patient, and resilient with a positive, can-do attitude. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage with students effectively. A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs and fostering their development. Enhanced DBS check and EWC registration (guidance will be provided). 2 references required.
