Role Description
Starting salary £35,339 plus excellent benefits
This is an exciting opportunity for a home-based mechanical engineer covering Kent or Birmingham to join Allianz Engineering, a division of a leading global insurer and financial services provider.
As an Engineering Technician, you will assess a wide range of mechanical plant equipment to ensure safety and operational compliance. This includes lifting equipment, pumps, and motors. You will work closely with clients to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and collaborate with other technicians under the supervision of a Senior Operations Team Leader. Inspections will be documented electronically for efficient reporting.
This role involves hands-on inspections of plant and equipment across various locations, requiring physical activity such as working at heights, in confined spaces, and in different environmental conditions. Exposure to noise and dust is also expected.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
* Passion for engineering with self-motivation and strong client interaction skills.
* Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment, ideally from manufacturing, repair, or maintenance roles.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Effective time management skills to organize weekly schedules independently.
Qualification Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum of 3 years practical engineering experience.
* Full UK driving license.
Additional Requirements
* Up-to-date knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards related to mechanical plant inspection.
* Ability to make informed decisions and take responsibility.
* Strong planning skills for scheduling meetings, visits, and work tasks.
* Ability to travel within your designated area effectively.
* Proficiency in documentation and administrative tasks.
* Willingness to support colleagues and cover for team members when needed.
