Overview
The post registration foundation pharmacist team delivers the pharmacy out of hours service. The team work on a shift rota and gain experience of working at both main hospital sites. Comprehensive induction, training and support is provided for all new staff prior to starting out of hours working.
Applications are welcomed from registered pharmacists as well as those who are expected to join the General Pharmaceutical Council register by December 2025. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for this post, please contact one of the pharmacists named below for advice.
Our post registration foundation pharmacists gain clinical rotational experience across a full range of specialities, as well as departmental rotations through dispensaries, aseptic and medicines information services.
Post diploma we can offer exciting opportunities for career advancement and personal development including independent pharmacist prescribing, in-house advanced pharmacist development programme, masters, research, and audit.
To provide advice on the safe and effective use of medicinal products.
To provide pharmacy departmental services including out of hours services on a shift pattern.
To participate in the ward based clinical pharmacy services.
To undertake appropriate post registration training and development including a MSc/PGDip/PGCert Clinical Pharmacy (Secondary Care).

The posts are supported to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Foundation Pharmacy Practice as an essential criteria for progression to Band 7.
