Job Summary: This post is fixed term to 29th March 2026 due to funding. To contribute to the provision of health care to patients; providing a comprehensive and confidential Reception/clerical support in relation to attendances at the Outpatients Department. At all times the appropriate systems, procedures, policies and processes must be followed for all patients to experience a smooth journey at all times. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work within The Outpatients Department, Royal Glamorgan Hospital. We aim to provide a high standard of care within our unit and are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, has a friendly manner and an excellent work ethic. Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work across sites. The successful candidate will have ideally have previous office and front of house experience, ideally in a similar role within the NHS, or other health related environment. A good general education, 3 GCSEs or equivalent, are required. Knowledge of Health Board IT systems to include Myrddin and Enlighten would be desirable although full training will be given. The successful candidate will be able to work in a busy environment and have a sensitive, caring and non-judgemental attitude towards others. They must also be flexible in their role. Weekend working is essential.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn\'t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn\'t need to have skills in Welsh, we\'ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn\'t \'fluency\', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Person Specification
Knowledge: Essential: Knowledge of administrative systems, admission, patient information systems, hospital departments, clerical/office procedures, data input procedures acquired through on-the-job training.
Skills: Essential: Computer Skills.
Desirable: CTM computer systems; Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
Experience: Essential: Experience of working with members of the public. Desirable: Previous experience of working within the NHS.
