Location and Details
Location: New Friends Hall, Heath House Lane, Bristol, BS35 1ER. Contract: Permanent. Hours: 37.5 per week. Roles include full-time and flexible working opportunities. Salary: £29,970 – £44,962 per annum, pro rata. Grade: NHS AfC Band 5.
Job Overview
We are recruiting for a Band 5 development post within the Community Respiratory team. The successful candidate will receive a robust workplan and a competency framework to support progression from Band 5 to Band 6. Weekly study time and supernumerary shifts will be provided to develop skills across the respiratory service. This post is open to both nurse and physiotherapist colleagues.
Responsibilities
* The Community Respiratory Service delivers pulmonary rehabilitation programmes, Home Oxygen Assessment Service and supports the NHS@home respiratory pathway.
* Provide an Advice and Guidance Service for healthcare professionals across BNSSG from across the care pathway.
* Support people with long-term respiratory conditions living in the community to manage their condition and improve quality of life.
* The Community Respiratory Service sits within Specialist Services and provides support to adults across BNSSG.
* Service hours are 8:00 am – 6:30 pm, seven days a week.
The post holder is responsible for provision of a patient-centered, evidence-based service within BNSSG and will provide:
* Expert clinical assessment, advice and treatment for people with chronic respiratory disease within the community setting.
* Support and deliver Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes and the Home Oxygen Therapy service.
* Provide specialist assessment for patients on the Acute Respiratory at NHS@Home Pathway.
* Be a specialist resource for colleagues across professional and organisational boundaries, sharing expert knowledge to ensure effective medical management and integrated working.
Qualifications and Requirements
Essential criteria include:
* Hold a Physiotherapy, Nursing or Paramedic qualification recognised as equivalent by the professional body.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) maintained in portfolio.
* Previous post-qualification experience in a health and social care environment within the relevant professional discipline.
* Competence in performing specialist clinical assessments and treatments with a focus on respiratory examination and clinical reasoning.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to acute patient needs.
Desirable criteria include:
* Student mentorship/practice assessor qualification.
* Experience in managing group work.
* Knowledge of shared decision making and goal setting in patient care.
