Shape the Future of SEN Provision in a Brand-New Specialist School
Are you an experienced and passionate SENCO looking to make a real impact in a new, therapeutic education setting? Academics Bristol is seeking a committed SENCO to join the founding team at a SEN school that is preparing to open in November 2025.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the leadership and development of a school from the very beginning - helping to build inclusive, supportive, and trauma-informed education for children and young people with complex needs.
Location: North Somerset (BS40)Salary: £30,198 - £36,105 per annum (dependent on experience)Contract type: Full-time, PermanentStart date: November 2025Pupil age range: 6-18 years
About the SENCO role
* Take the lead in planning and delivering tailored educational frameworks for learners aged 6 to 18 with a range of special educational needs
* Work within a trauma-informed practice model, ensuring therapeutic approaches are embedded into every aspect of school life
* Support pupils with complex profiles including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and attachment needs
* Build strong working relationships with staff, families, and external agencies
* Promote inclusive teaching and learning and ensure all learners are fully supported to achieve their potential
* Help shape the SEN strategy and support a school-wide culture of high expectations and individualised support
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, and where your work will make a lasting difference to children who need stability, understanding, and belief.
What We're Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or NQTS)
* SENCO qualification
* Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching pupils with SEN
* Strong written, verbal, and IT skills
