Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental (Control Damage Hazards)Location: BarrowDuration: 12 monthsRate: £56.40 per hour PAYE or £76.16 per hour UmbrellaAs a Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental, you will be responsible for working as part of a team liaising with multiple engineering departments to contribute towards and develop design safety cases using a range of safety techniques.This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside subject matter experts within an exciting and specialist skills area whilst working on critical and complex national security engineering projects.Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental will involve:Undertaking HAZID/HAZAN as required throughout the safety lifecycleContributing to the design of submarines in concept stages, and design modifications of mature and operational submarines to ensure safety from internal hazardsActing as a subject matter expert for internal hazard safety at various design review meetings and as a design peer reviewerDeveloping safety case reports for multiple safety casesUndertaking risk assessments and ALARP assessmentsProducing and peer reviewing technical papers relating to safety analysisLiaising with a network of engineering stakeholders on safety matersDeveloping, producing and maintaining internal hazard safety processes and risk management strategiesMonitoring, recording and reporting against key performance indicators for internal hazard safety through a variety of key stakeholder groupsProven Ability / Key SkillsEssentialDemonstrable Engineering knowledge – Mechanical/Electrical/SystemsProven ability of working in a High hazard industry (Nuclear, Oil and Gas, Rail, Major construction, defence, Air)Proven ability in safety case development or maintenance in a high hazard industry/roleKnowledge with a range of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment techniquesSafety integrity levels knowledgeProven ability in Hazard AnalysisIT ProficientDesirableDSEAR/ATEX Design standards knowledgeExposure in Fire Engineering/Fire Risk AssessmentAdditionalPlease note, due to the sensitive nature of the project involved all applicants must be capable of gaining a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level.TPBN1_UKTJ
