About Harmony Energy

Harmony Energy is one of the UK and Europe’s leading developers, owners and operators of utility-scale battery energy storage projects, as well as being active in solar and onshore wind.

We see ourselves as a fundamental part of the transition to net zero across the UK and Europe, supporting the delivery of more secure, sustainable energy systems while bringing economic benefits at both local and national levels.

Harmony’s headquarters are in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, with a further UK office in central London. We also have offices in France, Poland and Germany.

Rapid growth across the business means we are expanding our team – and now is your chance to join a multi-award-winning team helping to power a sustainable future. Having already built, developed, energised and operated over 700MW of projects to date, the company is now growing a multi-gigawatt portfolio across Europe, which it plans to bring into construction and operations.

This position will be remote but require at least two visits to our London office every month to meet up with the wider asset management team. This role is expected to be full-time but part-time working could be considered for the right candidate.

About the role

We are looking for an O&M Operations Manager to join the Asset Management Team.

The O&M Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational performance of Harmony Energy’s battery energy storage assets in the UK. The role sits within the Asset Management team and focuses on ensuring that all operational activities across the BESS portfolio are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual obligations.

As the primary “eyes and ears” on the ground across Harmony’s BESS portfolio, the O&M Operations Manager acts as the primary operational interface between Asset Management, HSQE, OEM service providers, Balance of Plant contractors, and other operational stakeholders. The role supports asset managers by coordinating site activities, managing contractors, and ensuring that operational issues are resolved quickly and effectively.

While the role has a strong Balance of Plant (BoP) foundation, it is expanded to cover end-to-end site operations support, including OEM interface, outage coordination, availability protection, incident response, defects management, and support to mobilisation and handover as new sites transition from construction into operations. The position requires regular site visits across the UK.

A genuine interest in renewable energy is essential.

Key responsibilities

-Contractor management and scheduling:

* Management and scheduling of key contractors across Harmony’s BESS assets, typically including: BESS OEM, BoP O&M contractor, security/CCTV providers, cleaning, landscaping, specialist service providers (as required).
* Visit sites to supervise works, carry out inspections and close out outstanding items
* Ensure scheduled maintenance is carried out as per plan and evidenced appropriately.
* Run contractor performance reviews (at least monthly), track KPIs, actions, and recurring issues.
* Make sure all visits, works, incidents, and corrective actions are logged properly in Harmony systems.

-Interface between Harmony and operational stakeholders:

* Act as the operational interface between Asset Management, HSQE, and O&M contractors.
* Work with Asset Managers to ensure issues are triaged, progressed, and closed out efficiently (including accurate records, evidence, and timelines).
* Coordinate maintenance scheduling and outages to minimise availability and revenue impact (including interfacing planned outages with the trading/optimisation function and monitoring providers where applicable).

-BoP scheduled maintenance management:

* Manage all activities related to BoP scheduled maintenance, including booking works, approving schedules, monitoring progress vs technical requirements, reviewing contractor reporting, and ensuring close-out packs are complete.
* Collate maintenance statistics and provide clear reporting to O&M and Asset Management.

-BoP unscheduled maintenance and fault response:

* Manage all activities related to BoP unscheduled maintenance, including coordination between parties (BoP, OEM, DNO/ICP and others) to reduce availability impact.
* Define scope of intervention required (with contractor support), verify works meet technical requirements, and drive return-to-service.

-Technical incident management and investigation:

* Manage and investigate technical incidents (equipment faults and operational events), including arranging site attendance, ensuring evidence capture, supporting contractor reporting, and collating documentation for close-out and lessons learned.
* Respond to incidents in line with the site Emergency Response Plan, where necessary.
* Work with Asset Management to support resolution of technical incidents where BESS OEM involvement is required, including fault escalation, coordination of attendances, and supporting warranty claim substantiation.
* Improve outage discipline: accurate start/stop times, clear categorisation, strong evidence packs, and robust close-out notes to support availability governance and commercial discussions.

-Site access management and safety governance:

* Control site access management and maintain an approved/inducted contractor database.
* Evaluate contractor access requests and RAMS, and verify training/authorisations are in place (including HV Safety rules compliance where applicable).
* Enforce Harmony HSQE policies and conduct site or contractor audits of safe systems of work and site standards.
* Ensure contractors and visitors comply with Harmony information security and cyber requirements while on site.

-Site governance and owner inspections:

* Perform regular owner site inspections and maintain action trackers to close out findings.
* Organise and run site visits, including readiness checks for planned works and post-work verification.
* Support stores management and spare parts readiness.

-Mobilisation and handover from construction to operations:

* Lead operational mobilisation and takeover readiness. Coordinate all parties (EPC, OEM, BoP contractors, HSQE) so the site can be safely handed over into operations.
* Ensure contractors, access/inductions, safe systems of work, maintenance schedules, monitoring and incident response arrangements are live, and capture lessons learned to improve future mobilisations.

-EPC defects, warranty closeout, and contract administration:

* Day-to-day management of EPC contract activities while warranties remain in effect, including finalising claims from construction and administering variations/change orders in line with contract governance (with internal commercial support).
* Arrange end-of-warranty inspections, collate defects, and drive contractor close-out.
* Manage any remaining payments associated with completion milestones (with Finance and Commercial).

Experience and skills

* 5+ years in site operations/O&M for utility scale energy assets (BESS, solar, wind, HV infrastructure) including contractor management and incident response.
* Strong contractor management experience including performance management, KPI reporting, and safe systems of work oversight.
* Degree/HND in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent practical experience in HV/utility scale O&M.
* IOSH certificate/diploma or NEBOSH General Certificate
* Strong competence in operational governance: RAMS review, PTW/LOTO principles, contractor onboarding/induction control, and robust record keeping (outage logs, evidence packs, close-out notes).
* Excellent communication and teamwork
* Proactive mindset with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability
* Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
* Calm, practical, field-led problem solving and incident coordination
* Driving License a necessity for site visits

Nice to Have

• BESS experience (OEM exposure beneficial)

• Commercial and technical awareness

• H&S auditing experience and detailed working knowledge of safe systems of work

• Experience working with DNOs and/or NGET

• Experience with HV substations

Why Join?

• Direct, measurable impact on availability and revenue by tightening outage discipline, contractor delivery, and return-to-service speed.

• Varied, hands-on scope across field operations, incident response, and OEM and BoP coordination rather than a desk-only role.

• Strong ownership and visibility as the key interface between Asset Management, HSQE, and contractors, where sound judgement drives outcomes.

• Fast-growth, award-winning platform with the chance to lead mobilisation from construction into operations while supporting the net zero transition.

Package and benefits

• 25 days of annual leave, plus UK bank holidays, with additional entitlement awarded for long service after 2 years

• Bonus scheme

• Private Medical Insurance, Life Assurance and Income Protection

• Company vehicle to support regular travel to BESS sites.

• Company pension scheme with enhanced employer contribution

• Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

• Employee shopping/lifestyle discount platform

• Access to lifestyle and wellbeing support and advice

• 2 paid company volunteering days per year

• ClassPass credits
