Location: Yorkshire & North East – the role covers a mixture of manufacturing and office sites across Hull (1 manufacturing site), York (1 manufacturing & 1 office site) and Worksop (1 manufacturing site). The role can be home‑based or based from one of our locations, and will require regular interaction at Cargill sites (≈3 days per week on site with a particular focus on Hull 1–2 days of the 3). The position is permanent full‑time; for the right candidate we may consider a 4‑day‑a‑week working pattern.
The Senior Employee Relations / Industrial Relations Specialist will serve as a member of the UK‑based Human Resources Solutions team (two other UK‑based colleagues) responsible for delivering Employee Relations services to the business. In this role you will use in‑depth knowledge of UK Employment Law to coordinate complex ER/IR processes, including grievances, investigations, collective bargaining, TUPE, MADJV, ethical concerns and monitoring compliance.
Key Accountabilities
* Serve as an Employee Relations / Industrial Relations Senior Specialist within the UK Human Resources team to provide relevant and effective consulting services to managers and colleagues at all levels.
* Conduct complex investigations concerning employee and management inquiries, employee suggestions and complaints.
* Work with in‑house legal resources and external consultants to ensure Employee Relations activities adhere to company policy and UK Employment law.
* Help prepare audit (SEDEX / Ethical Audit) reporting and compliance reviews pertaining to local regulations and programmes.
* Partner with local HR Business Partners to support more complex cases for their locations.
* Empower and upskill managers to lead less complex/serious investigations.
* Identify Employee Relations trends and work proactively to put mitigations in place.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a related field and or equivalent extensive practical HR experience in place of a degree – CIPD qualifications not essential but preferred.
* Experience in HR focusing on Employee Relations / Industrial Relations (UK experience) ideally in a multi‑site/complex manufacturing environment – other sectors actively considered.
* Experience with UK recognised unions.
* UK driving licence / ability to travel to different Cargill locations in Yorkshire / North East UK.
