About the role

We’re looking for a Strategic Account Manager to own and grow a portfolio of high‑value Wholesale and channel partner accounts. This role sits at the heart of our Wholesale growth strategy and is responsible for driving long‑term, profitable revenue through deep customer relationships, strategic account planning, and complex deal execution.


You’ll act as a trusted commercial partner to senior customer stakeholders, shaping account strategy, expanding share of wallet, and ensuring BT remains a critical, long‑term partner to our largest wholesale customers. This is a role for someone who thrives in complex, enterprise environments and enjoys balancing commercial growth, relationship leadership, and strategic influence.


What you’ll be doing

- Own the end‑to‑end commercial relationship for a portfolio of strategic Wholesale and channel partner accounts, with responsibility for revenue growth, retention, and long‑term value.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans that identify growth opportunities, expand share of wallet, and align BT’s capabilities to customer priorities.
- Lead complex commercial negotiations and large‑scale deals, working across internal virtual teams to shape solutions, pricing, and propositions.
- Build and maintain strong, senior‑level relationships with customer decision‑makers, influencers, and stakeholders, positioning BT as a trusted advisor.
- Deliver accurate forecasting and pipeline management, providing clear commercial insight and visibility on performance and future opportunities.
- Coordinate internally across sales, delivery, product, finance, and service teams to ensure seamless execution and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Represent BT in customer forums and industry events, maintaining a strong understanding of the Wholesale market and competitive landscape.

Proven experience in Strategic / Enterprise Account Management within telecoms, wholesale, or a complex B2B environment.
Track record of managing and growing high‑value accounts, ideally with multimillion‑pound revenue responsibility.
Experience shaping complex deals, pricing models, and business cases.
Ability to build and sustain senior stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes in matrix organisations.
Experience managing long sales cycles and leading opportunities involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM discipline (e.g. Salesforce or equivalent).

Experience working specifically within the Wholesale telecoms market or with channel / partner‑led sales models.
Background in managing large, complex bids or contracts with extended sales cycles.
Ability to use data and insight to shape account strategy and articulate a compelling commercial narrative to customers.
Experience working across geographically virtual teams to deliver shared commercial outcomes.
Understanding of market trends, customer challenges, and competitive dynamics within wholesale or enterprise connectivity.
