Deputy Manager Location: Derby Salary: £40,734 £44,977 per year (inclusive of sleep-ins) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent; Hours: 40 hours per week, Initially alternate week shift pattern (2 days on, 4 days off includes on-call and sleep-ins) About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our childrens residential home in Derby. You will support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people. This role offers a hands-on leadership opportunity, where you will guide a committed team and contribute to positive outcomes for every young person in our care. Key Responsibilities: Support the Registered Manager in running the home according to policies, procedures, and care quality standards. Lead, supervise, and develop a team of staff, promoting best practice and professional growth. Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and the welfare of children is prioritised. Oversee care delivery, including care and placement plans, ensuring they meet the needs of each young person. Maintain a safe, homely environment that supports childrens social, educational, and emotional development. Manage staff rotas, on-call duties, recruitment, and budget monitoring. Deputise in the Registered Managers absence, supporting compliance and inspections. Foster an inclusive, transparent, and supportive team culture. Qualifications & Experience: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services (or willingness to work towards). Minimum 3 years experience working with children in residential settings within the last 5 years. Supervisory or management experience desirable. Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inter-agency collaboration. Understanding of relevant legislation, including Childrens Home Regulations, Children Acts, and Care Standards Act.
