Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Tax Senior or Manager to join our growing tax team. The role is predominantly focused on personal tax compliance and advisory work, with some involvement in corporate tax matters, particularly for owner-managed businesses. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys direct client interaction, varied work, and taking ownership of a portfolio.
The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including high-net-worth individuals, directors, landlords, and partnerships. They will be responsible for the preparation and review of complex tax returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC deadlines and maintaining a high standard of service. The role will also involve handling capital gains tax, pension tax reliefs, residence and domicile queries, and general tax planning. A smaller proportion of time will be spent preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns for a selection of SME and OMB clients. The individual will also liaise directly with HMRC in relation to client enquiries and correspondence.
There is a strong advisory element to the role. The postholder will provide commercially focused tax advice to clients and colleagues, supporting on planning assignments such as property transactions, IHT and CGT matters, and business exit strategies. They will also be encouraged to identify and present tax planning opportunities to clients.
As part of wider responsibilities, the role includes ad-hoc tasks and project-based work. The successful candidate will support with initial calls and meetings with potential clients, helping to assess their needs and presenting suitable solutions. They may also assist in preparing fee quotes and engagement proposals. Contributions to internal technical updates, efficiency improvements, and mentoring junior staff are also expected.
The individual will also be involved in reviewing work prepared by junior team members, helping with workflow management, and providing guidance and feedback to support development. Strong organisational skills and attention to deadlines will be essential.
Candidate Profile
* ATT and/or CTA qualified, or ACA/ACCA with strong tax focus
* Minimum 4 years’ experience in UK personal tax, including advisory and compliance
* Exposure to corporate tax for SMEs or OMBs
* Experience managing a client portfolio independently
* Confident dealing with clients and communicating technical matters clearly
* Comfortable reviewing and mentoring junior staff

Salary & Benefits
* Competitive salary based on experience (Senior: £45,000–£55,000 | Manager: £60,000–£75,000)
