Position Overview
As an Assistant Data Analyst, you’ll support the creation and maintenance of internal and external reports, dashboards, and performance indicators. You’ll work with Microsoft SQL Server and other tools to extract, validate, and analyze data, helping to inform strategic decisions and improve service delivery. This role also includes administrative support, system training, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Data & Analysis
* Create and run reports using Microsoft SQL Server
* Prepare and quality-assure routine internal and external information returns
* Ensure Navigo’s information systems support mandatory data collection and performance indicators
* Develop and deliver customized ad-hoc management reports and information packs
* Analyze large datasets and resolve discrepancies
* Benchmark national and local data to support strategic functions
* Maintain knowledge of NHS data definitions, standards, and guidance
System Support
* Support the implementation and maintenance of Navigo’s mental health information systems
* Investigate post-deadline national dataset files to improve data quality
* Maintain a high Data Quality Maturity Index
* Extract and interpret patient clinical records with sound judgment
* Identify and resolve issues in the Mental Health Clinical System and the Incident and Accident Reporting System
Administrative Duties
* Provide support during team leave (e.g., meeting minutes, agendas, documentation)
* Format presentations to align with organizational standards
* Carry out general administrative tasks to support the DSI team
* Build effective relationships with internal teams including clinical leads, quality teams, and secretaries
* Liaise with external partners such as NHS England, TPP SystmOne, and regional information teams
* Explain analytical and statistical matters to non-technical professionals
* Advise on statistical techniques and information governance issues
Planning & Policy
* Adhere to legislation, data standards, and best practices to safeguard sensitive information
* Manage multiple tasks and competing priorities to meet project deadlines
* Monitor progress and contribute to post-project reviews
* Maintain accurate systems for tracking data related to new initiatives and diversionary schemes
* Work within organizational policies using sound judgment and initiative
HR & Training
* Support colleagues within the DSI team by sharing expertise
* Provide basic guidance on core systems to help others use them effectively
* Identify training needs and collaborate with the System Trainer to address gaps
Required Skills and Experience
* Experience in data analysis or business intelligence, ideally within healthcare or professional services
* Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and Excel (including pivot tables and Power Query)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical audiences
* High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
* Collaborative mindset and ability to work across departments
* Enthusiasm for continuous learning and technical development
