The Role
We are looking to hire a Junior IT support engineer to assist our users with computer hardware and software issues. You will be required to work on‑site assisting with user account and hardware setups, hardware installations, business application support and basic user‑facing IT‑related issues.
To ensure success you should have knowledge of basic home and office IT systems, excellent problem‑solving skills and high‑level interpersonal skills. A top‑class support engineer provides fast and effective support for users experiencing hardware and software issues.
Responsibilities
* Respond to user support requests in person, via the service desk platform (Jira), via instant message (Slack) and via video call.
* Act as a first responder with the Service Desk team to address common and minor issues.
* Triage service tickets to other members of the IT Services team.
* Contact users to find out the nature of the problem.
* Support bespoke core business applications.
* Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
* Install and maintain hardware and computer peripherals.
* Install and upgrade operating systems and computer software.
* Set up office equipment and assist with office and team relocations.
* Set up new equipment and accounts for new joiners.
* Assist with the management and maintenance of user accounts across multiple platforms.
* Assist with maintaining the asset register.
* Provide feedback on processes and help improve these using previous job experience.
This role is predominantly office based and applicants should be aware of the requirement to be office based for up to 4 days per week on a regular basis.
About you
* Exposure to business application support and/or IT support functions within a structured environment.
* Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications and remote connection systems, including Microsoft Windows 10/11, Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, Office 365 and macOS.
* Ability to learn new skills and new technology.
* Ability to travel and work after hours when necessary.
* Ability to be part of an on‑call rota covering out‑of‑hours support.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
