Job Description:
The service manager has responsibility for coordinating staff and resources to achieve the highest standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of the service users. Ensuring the welfare of service users and compliance with the organisation's standards and statutory requirements. The role involves operating within a legislative framework, promoting values and care ethos within the team and home.
The area Service Manager will oversee and support managers for 5 supported living projects and community activities for adults and children of Lynton Community Care. The Service Manager reports directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities
1. Referring including assessment, liaising with previous care team, family, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
2. Sustaining and supporting good communication with service users, relatives, and other professionals.
3. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
4. Maintaining effective control of the homes, ensuring health and safety legislation, infection control, and environmental health standards are met. Conducting risk assessments and fire checks.
5. Working with CIW to understand and comply with Fundamental Standards and carrying out statutory notifications.
6. Managing legal and statutory documentation related to the home.
7. Documenting maintenance issues and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
8. Monitoring and investigating complaints, generating reports, and implementing corrective actions.
9. Recruiting staff, overseeing induction, and ensuring training requirements are met.
10. Promoting openness and honesty, supporting staff decision-making, and fostering improvements.
11. Holding regular staff meetings, providing supervision, and supporting staff development.
12. Building positive relationships with staff and maintaining effective communication mechanisms.
13. Participating in disciplinary processes when necessary.
14. Managing staff scheduling, rotas, absences, and holidays.
15. Managing medication systems, budgeting, and monitoring expenditure.
16. Safeguarding service users and managing safeguarding issues.
17. Handling applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and working with personal representatives.
18. Being on call out of hours for advice and incident response.
19. Attending supervision and engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
20. Participating in strategic decisions and business growth.
21. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director.
22. Managing budgets and financials.
23. Writing and auditing behavioral reports.
The Service Manager must possess skills and qualifications to support both adults and children with learning disabilities.
