Here at Superhiring, we are on a search for an enthusiastic and driven Children's Support Worker - Waking Nights to join our Ofsted Regulated LD Children's Home in Eastbourne. We strive to encourage and motivate children, young people and young adults to develop and enhance life skills. We participate in a range of leisure activities, educational interests and social opportunities which offer positive challenges within a safe and structured environment.
Main Duties
* Work as part of the staff team on waking shifts, supporting the needs of young people in our care.
* Support young people directly, reviewing care plans, encouraging independence, and helping them prepare for adulthood.
* Take an active role in daily care, leisure activities, and annual holidays.
* Work in partnership with young people, families, social workers, carers, and other agencies.
* Complete administrative tasks and record keeping linked to key working responsibilities and the smooth running of the home.
* Manage primary care needs (e.g., medication, personal care), and make appropriate decisions about young people's requests and behaviours.
* Respond to safeguarding concerns promptly, following home policies and procedures.
Household Responsibilities
* Maintain the home to a high standard, caring for equipment and the environment.
* Manage and account for allocated funds responsibly.
* Ensure young people have healthy, balanced meals prepared by staff.
* Carry out health and safety checks in line with policies, Ofsted standards, and regulations.
What We're Looking For
* Willingness to learn and grow through a personal development plan.
* Preferably, experience working waking night shifts.
* Kind, caring, and compassionate, with the ability to support all young people's needs.
* Experience supporting children with challenging behaviours (e.g., severe autism or ADHD).
* Resilience and the ability to handle challenges in a calm, caring way.
* Level 3 NVQ in Children's Residential Care (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one if successful).
