Job Title: Civil Engineer – Water Metering Location: Northwest England (Manchester) Salary: Competitive rates and progression Training & Skills: Full Training provided for the right candidate Role Overview We are recruiting Civil Engineers to support delivery of the Smart Metering Programme, a key investment programme focused on reducing leakage, improving network resilience. The role involves undertaking civil activities, and reinstatement in the public highway. All works must be delivered in accordance with technical standards, Street Works legislation, and performance targets. Van, fuel card and tools provided Training start date: 20th April. Work start date: 6th May Key Responsibilities * Deliver smart meter installations to specifications * Undertake associated civil works including excavation, pipe exposure, chamber alterations, and reinstatement * Carry out works safely and compliantly as a NRSWA qualified Civil Operative * Ensure all reinstatements meet SROH asset standards * Identify and report defects, leakage issues, legacy installations, or network anomalies in line with process * Accurately complete job records, asset updates, handheld device inputs, and smart meter commissioning documentation * Liaise professionally with customers, supervisors and partners * Maintain vehicles, tools, plant, and PPE to company standards Desirable Qualifications & Skills * NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) – Civil Operative * CSCS Card (or equivalent) * Full UK Driving Licence * EUSR registration (utilities related modules) * Proven experience in water utilities. * Competency in excavation, backfilling, reinstatement. * Strong understanding of working safely on live water networks and within public highways Personal Attributes * Strong safety-first attitude * Reliable, self-motivated, and organised * Comfortable working to productivity targets and programme deadlines * Professional and courteous * Flexible and adaptable to changing programme priorities
