Your new role
As an Assistant Estimator / QS, you will play an integral role in supporting the estimating and quantity surveying functions within the company. Your responsibilities will include controlling incoming tender enquiries and the estimating database, performing drawing take-offs, obtaining accurate quotes for materials from suppliers and subcontractors, assisting with pricing and preparing quotations, updating and maintaining the estimating database, checking subcontractor applications, pricing and submitting variations, and assisting with the preparation of valuations. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. A full UK driving licence and access to your own car are essential for this position.Responsibilities:
1. Control and manage incoming tender enquiries and the estimating database.
2. Perform drawing take-offs accurately and efficiently.
3. Obtain accurate quotes for materials from suppliers and subcontractors.
4. Assist in pricing, preparing, and submitting quotations to clients.
5. Update and maintain the estimating database, ensuring data integrity.
6. Follow up on quotations and maintain effective communication with clients.
7. Check subcontractor applications for accuracy and compliance.
8. Price and submit variations in a timely and accurate manner.
9. Assist in the preparation of valuations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
10. A-Level or equivalent qualification achieved.
11. Degree in Quantity Surveying (desirable)
12. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
13. Some experience working in the construction industry is desirable.
14. Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately analyse and interpret data.
15. Good communication skills to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
16. Strong time management and self-organisational skills to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
17. Full UK driving licence and access to own car.
