One-year maternity cover, applications welcome for full or part-time role. We are looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic person to join our highly successful and inclusive Sixth Form College. The successful candidate will be a committed, inspirational and dynamic individual with a passion for teaching. We welcome applications from ECTs and experienced teachers from Sixth Form Colleges, Schools and FE Colleges.
The Faculty for Sport and Protective Services offers a wide range of courses including: BTEC Level 2 and 3 Sport, A-level PE, NCFE Level 2 Public Services and BTEC Level 3 Public Services, together with a range of additional sports qualifications and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme to enrich the student experience and support students in their career opportunities. The faculty has dedicated specialist teaching spaces and supports a range of extra-curricular activity to enrich the taught curriculum including an excellent sports academy programme.
Itchen College is a thriving Sixth Form College with a broad curriculum offer to meet the needs of the local community. The college is situated in pleasant surroundings to the east of Southampton with excellent local transport links. Ofsted inspected the college in September 2024, grading overall provision as Outstanding with Outstanding Quality of Education, Outstanding Behaviour and Attitudes, Outstanding Leadership and Management, Outstanding Education Programmes for Young People and Outstanding Provision for Learners with High Needs.
The college is committed to supporting staff wellbeing and professional development. The college has an excellent in house CPD programme for all teaching and support staff including a dedicated programme for Early Career Teachers. The college also has close links with the Southampton Education Forum, the Wessex Group and the SFCA, including subject groups and CPD opportunities at all levels. Responsibilities
* Deliver teaching across the College’s Sport and Protective Services courses, including BTEC Level 2 and 3 Sport, A-level PE, NCFE Level 2 Public Services and BTEC Level 3 Public Services.
* Provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences to support student progression and achievement.
* Contribute to additional sports qualifications and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme to enrich the student experience.
* Engage in extra-curricular activities and the college’s sports academy programme.
* Collaborate with colleagues and participate in the college’s CPD opportunities, including Early Career Teacher (ECT) support.
* Support wider college activities and adhere to safeguarding and welfare policies.
