Finance Business Partner – Transformation

Reporting to: Finance Director – Transformation
This role supports SGN’s Transformation programme, embedding robust financial governance, insight and performance disciplines across a complex portfolio of change initiatives. It is not a traditional finance reporting role; the focus is on shaping how we work, driving better decision‑making and ensuring transformation activity delivers measurable value for the business.
Business partnering & stakeholder management
* Act as a trusted finance partner to senior stakeholders across the Transformation programme
* Build strong professional relationships with programme leads and non‑finance stakeholders
* Provide constructive challenge and commercial insight to support decision‑making
* Influence behaviours and help embed a culture of accountability and value delivery
Financial control & governance
* Lead the month‑end close process for Transformation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
* Embed strong financial controls and consistent ways of working across the programme
* Support budgeting, forecasting and periodic re‑planning activity
* Ensure governance processes are robust, proportionate and consistently applied
Benefits tracking & value delivery
* Own and enhance the benefits tracking framework across the transformation portfolio
* Work with initiative owners to define, track and challenge delivery of financial and operational benefits
* Provide clear reporting on benefits realisation, risks and delivery progress
* Support the development of robust baselines, recurring savings tracking and performance metrics
Analysis & insight
* Deliver high‑quality financial and commercial analysis across transformation activity
* Support business cases, investment decisions and prioritisation discussions
* Analyse programme spend, resource deployment and value delivery
* Identify risks, trends and opportunities, translating data into clear, actionable insight
Continuous improvement
* Help embed stronger ways of working across the Transformation Office
* Challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and transparency
* Drive better reporting, clearer governance and more effective financial partnering
* Support the ongoing evolution of the finance operating model across Transformation
Essential qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Strong finance business partnering or FP&A experience
* Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
* A proactive mindset with the desire to make a difference, not maintain the status quo
Desirable qualifications
* Experience supporting transformation, change or programme environments
* Benefits tracking / investment governance experience
* Experience working with senior non‑finance stakeholders
* Utilities, infrastructure or regulated industry experience
