Job Summary
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Clinical Trials Pharmacist to support innovative clinical trials. The role involves updating study documentation, overseeing supply, storage and aseptic preparation of investigational medicinal products, and providing specialist pharmacy expertise to ensure successful trial execution.
Responsibilities
* Participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Clinical Trials from setup to close‑down, including feasibility review.
* Present costings to sponsors for pharmacy operational expenses during the trial.
* Set up and update study‑specific documents, and process amendments promptly.
* Proactively address challenges to ensure trial progression while maintaining patient safety and data integrity.
* Provide regular updates on pharmaceutical aspects of trials to align with project goals.
* Accuracy check oral and aseptically prepared trial medications as required.
* Coordinate and deliver pharmacy support to researchers within Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.
* Work with the dedicated Clinical Trial Team to plan workload for pharmacy services and ensure operational implementation.
* Ensure compliance with regulations (ICH/GCP, EU Directive 2001/20/EC, FDA, GMP) and the Research Governance Framework.
* Provide specialised professional expertise to researchers in developing clinical trial protocols involving medication, including advice on MHRA authorisation certification.
* Interact with and support Clinical Trial Technicians and Senior Technical Officers.
Essential Qualifications
* M Pharm qualified to masters degree level (4‑year MPharm) or equivalent.
* Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (Great Britain).
* Wide Hospital Pharmacy experience.
* Strong problem‑identification, solving, prioritisation, and time‑management skills.
* Team player with good written and oral communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced in multidisciplinary teams.
* Postgraduate clinical pharmacy certificate or GPhC registered independent prescriber.
Desirable Qualifications
* Previous Clinical Trials or Research experience.
* Aseptic Unit experience.
* Research Ethics experience or training.
* Involvement in developing a service.
* Good IT skills.
* Experience presenting to a group.
* Diploma or MSc in Clinical/Hospital Pharmacy or relevant research qualification.
