Patient Pathway Co‑ordinator – Basildon Hospital, part of the Care of the Elderly Department, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust

This role involves a broad range of administrative duties to support the clinical and management teams, interact with residents and visitors, and ensure a smooth patient journey.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the administration of the inpatient and day‑case booking process, maintaining waiting lists, booking TCI dates, and arranging out‑patient appointments.
* Cancel and re‑book appointments or admissions and perform general clerical duties.
* Manage the Care of the Elderly schedules for consultants, cancelling or requesting clinics as needed.
* Deal directly with members of the public and NHS staff.
* Input data into computer systems accurately and efficiently, maintaining high concentration amid frequent interruptions.
* Work within a specific clinical area to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by coordinating streamlined administrative processes around each patient’s needs.
* Provide administrative support to all clinical staff (Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Junior Doctors), handling diary cancellations and reinstatements in line with planned and unplanned leave.
* Support the clinical team, Operational Manager, and Divisional managers to ensure safe and effective services while ensuring compliance with contractual access targets (e.g., the 18‑week Referral to Treatment).
Person Specification – Experience
* Patient‑facing experience with patients and relatives.
* Previous administrative experience.
* Customer‑service experience with clients or customers.
Person Specification – Knowledge
* Experience working with NHS 18‑week / 2‑week waiting‑list targets.
* Understanding of the 18‑week/2‑week pathway.
