The Assistant Surveyor will perform Quantity Surveying duties on future and current developments in line with company operating procedures, industry best practice and legal requirements including the use of specific house building programmes. Main Accountabilities : Reports directly to the Commercial Manager on appointed contracts including the preparation and setting up of initial contract documentation, continuous management of the site budget and timely delivery of the monthly commercial reports. Participation in the Cala tendering process for standard & bespoke products, including preparation of tender documents, analysis of tender returns and appointment of contracts. Assist the nominated development team in Pre-Start Appraisals (PSA’s) for projects. To provide cost reports and key date updates to deadline. Create and monitor budgets for sub-contractors and materials. Monitor prelim, sales and marketing and fees budgets and assist relevant teams with these. Sub contract ordering and order and pay variations. Liaise with the buying function and order & control materials required for projects Work with Departmental Manager’s (Land/Technical/Construction/Sales) to gather data required for land bid process through to PTP process. To assist in carrying out Housing association valuations where appropriate and liaise with client regarding cost variances and cashflow forecasting. Assist in meeting with Subcontractors to value their accounts, negotiate, and account for their costs in line with best practice and company procedures. About You Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Degree in Surveying - Familiar with Building Regulations and current standards - High level of proficiency in MS Office Products - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel - Ability to produce accurate reports and presentations - Excellent written, verbal and listening skills - Reliable and flexible with the ability to be decisive - Self-motivated and pro-active - Attention to detail - Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to act on own initiative.
