Job Overview

Bangor University, School of History, Law and Social Sciences, is looking for a Lecturer (fixed‑term 5‑month) in Law. The successful candidate will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate modules, such as Contract Law, Tort Law and Land Law, and will be expected to provide pastoral support, assist with recruitment activities and contribute to the development of teaching materials.

Responsibilities

* Teach Law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars and tutorials.
* Develop and enhance teaching materials in line with best pedagogical practices.
* Mark assignments, provide timely and constructive feedback.
* Deliver pastoral support to students, acting as personal tutor where required.
* Contribute to the management and administration of programmes, including organising assessments and participating in quality assurance and accreditation processes.
* Participate in administrative functions of the School as directed by the Head of School, such as membership of school committees or task groups.
* Play an active role in student recruitment activities and promote the School’s academic programmes.
* Engage in scholarly activity to enhance teaching quality and support institutional strategies related to education and student experience.


Qualifications and Experience

* Essential: PhD (or near completion) in Law, a related discipline or relevant experience.
* Desirable: Recognised teaching qualification in higher education (e.g. PGCert, FHEA) completed or near completion.
* Ability to deliver engaging and inclusive teaching using a variety of methods.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Willingness to contribute to student recruitment and outreach activities.
* Administrative competence and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in using digital tools and learning technologies.
* Commitment to providing academic and pastoral support to students.
* Welsh language proficiency is essential for this post.
