We are looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic leader and manager to join our highly successful and inclusive Sixth Form College. The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner with the ability to lead and manage the Protective Services teaching team to deliver effective pastoral and curriculum provision. They will also be a highly effective and engaging teacher. Protective Services sits under the Director of Skills Development along with two other curriculum areas. The college offers a wide range of courses in this area including double and triple awards in Uniformed Protective Services at level 3, as well as a level 1 award and a level 2 Diploma in UPS. The faculty has dedicated teaching and specialist spaces and supports a wide range of extra-curricular activity to enrich the taught curriculum including the Uniformed Services Academy. Key Responsibilities Key Task: To lead and manage a curriculum team supporting high quality teaching and learning, effective student support and a positive student experience. Leadership and management of curriculum design and development including curriculum enrichment including leading teachers and curriculum support staff to support and facilitate the design and implementation of the course curriculum. Raising standards of student attainment and achievement within the curriculum area through leadership of high-quality teaching, learning and pastoral care to support all students to form and achieve individual aspirations. Leadership and management of curriculum teaching team including undertaking professional reviews; supporting and facilitating continuous professional development; managing absence; managing performance to support improved student outcomes. Leading and managing the academic and pastoral care of students within the curriculum area, liaising with parents, teachers and student support as appropriate. Monitoring and acting upon records of student behaviour, progress, attendance utilising college systems to ensure and support positive student outcomes. Leading and managing quality assurance processes within the curriculum area including lesson visits, learning walks, and verification processes for awarding bodies. Contributing to quality cycle and whole college operational and strategic planning through annual self-assessment review for the curriculum area and formulation of quality improvement plans. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area Appropriate teacher training qualification Proven track record of success as a teacher Experience of successfully supporting under- performing learners; Proven ability to work with parents/guardians in supporting young people Knowledge and Understanding of the 14-19 curriculum and progression routes Knowledge of quality assurance processes Knowledge of appropriate safeguarding and health and safety requirements Knowledge of College policies and procedures related to individual students – in particular child protection, equal opportunities and disciplinary policies Workplace Benefits Values-driven culture - we’re really proud of our culture.
