Premises & Safety Manager
Salary:HBHS Band 10 (Up to £43,975.00)
Hours:Full-time, 37 hours per week (primarily Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00, with flexibility required)
Contract:Permanent

At Herne Bay High School, we take pride in providing a secure, efficient, and inspiring environment for our students, staff, and visitors. We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead our dedicated premises team and take responsibility for all aspects of site management, health & safety compliance, and facilities operations.
What You'll Be Doing
As ourPremises & Safety Manager, you will:
* Lead and manage a hardworking premises team, including performance reviews, rotas, and task allocation
* Ensure our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained
* Act as the school’sHealth & Safety OfficerandFire Officer, overseeing all compliance requirements, training, inspections, and drills
* Monitor and manage the Building Management System (BMS), heating, and air systems to meet operational needs
* Liaise with contractors and service providers, ensuring value for money and adherence to safety standards
* Support the smooth running of the school by coordinating lettings, events, and exams logistics
* Take the lead on sustainability initiatives and contribute to our climate-conscious goals
What We're Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
* Has experience in facilities or premises management (ideally in a school or public sector setting)
* Holds (or is willing to work toward) relevant health & safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH)
* Has excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
* Is confident managing compliance matters, risk assessments, and contractor supervision
* Can work flexibly, especially during holidays, special events, or periods of staff absence
