Role Purpose/Objective:
Reporting into the Head of Procurement, the Supply Chain Manager role is essential for the successful delivery of projects. This position is responsible for all sub-contractor activities, including appraisals, tendering, contract awards, and performance metrics.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments such as estimating, commercial, construction, and finance. The role aims to deliver value by improving efficiencies, reducing costs, and minimizing waste across the supply chain.
The candidate should have experience and established relationships with subcontractors and manufacturers across key construction trades, with excellent product knowledge and the ability to influence and manage both externally and internally for the company's benefit.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the end-to-end sub-contract supply chain, from pre-tender to post-contract performance reviews
* Build and maintain relationships with new and existing subcontractors
* Respond to site communications regarding supply chain queries professionally and efficiently
* Engage early with estimating to support project planning
* Collaborate with estimating, commercial, and construction teams to understand project requirements and constraints
* Evaluate and select subcontractors based on quality, cost, and reliability
* Address issues related to delays, quality concerns, or material shortages
* Work with the commercial team to monitor costs and ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies to reduce waste and improve subcontractor performance
* Conduct regular reviews of the supply chain
* Provide updates on supply chain activities regularly
* Resolve disputes or issues with subcontractors to maintain smooth operations
* Collaborate to ensure clear specifications and expectations
* Visit sites frequently to review and report on subcontractor performance
Experience/Skills Required:
Previous experience in supply chain management within construction or related industries
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of construction materials and standards
Strong organizational and project management abilities
Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office
Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work independently to meet deadlines
