Company Overview
Teledyne Qioptiq is a leader in designing, developing, manufacturing, and supporting complex electro-optical components, modules, and subsystems. Our products include tactical solutions for the dismounted warfighter, satellite cover glass, Heads Up Displays (HUD), Helmet Mounted Displays (HMD), energetic devices, and subsystems such as Electronic Safe, Arm and Fire (ESAF) devices, Firing Modules (FMs), Ignition Safety Devices (ISDs), and detonators.
Position Outline
This role involves establishing coating process planning aligned with VCPs, investigating process issues, identifying reasons for product cost variances, resolving technical problems, and implementing corrective actions to reduce defects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop process plannings and routings using the AX system.
* Support weekly cost margin investigations and KPI tracking.
* Review coating status, specifications, and design files.
* Assess tooling availability and requirements, and place orders as needed.
* Review and update drawing configurations.
* Adjust batch sizes and chamber loading rules in collaboration with Optical Process Engineers.
* Assist with repeat and new order inquiries (AX Opportunities).
* Address daily process issues, troubleshoot production problems, and support quality improvement initiatives (FRACAS, Problem Solving A3).
* Support standard work processes such as GEMBA, TIER meetings, MRB, and FRB.
* Operate coating equipment to support process qualification and chamber commissioning as required.

Personal Specification:
All candidates must have:
* An understanding of coating principles.
* A high standard of education, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with scientific methods.
* An engineering or scientific background to engage credibly with engineering and production teams.
* Lean manufacturing knowledge supported by Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher.
* Strong commercial acumen, professionalism, and excellent communication skills.
* Motivation, responsiveness, meticulous attention to detail.
Desirable qualities include:
* Knowledge of mechanical or electrical standards for high-precision manufacturing.
* Experience with continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
* Knowledge of interferometry, profilometry, and polishing materials.
* Relevant engineering qualifications.
* Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards.
