Job Description
The Role:
To lead and perform conformity assessment activities for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with a specific focus on hand protection, safety footwear, and protective clothing. The role includes evaluation and decision-making in relation to Type Examination in accordance with applicable Regulations and harmonised standards, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 17020, and ISO 17065 requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership and management of the PPE Conformity Assessment Team, ensuring operational effectiveness and technical competence.
* Perform and/or review Type Examination evaluations of PPE, including, where applicable, hand protection, footwear, and protective clothing against relevant standards.
* Collaborate with the Quality Manager to maintain and develop compliance of the Quality Management System to ISO 17025, ISO 17020, and ISO 17065 standards. This includes flexible scope management, internal audits, and continuous improvement of certification procedures.
* Represent the organisation in relevant trade organisations, standards committees, and conformity assessment coordination groups, particularly those associated with PPE for hand protection, footwear, and clothing.
* Provide technical guidance, support, and training to both internal teams and external clients in relation to PPE testing, conformity assessment, and certification requirements.
* Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation within conformity assessment and testing processes.
* Support management in achieving KPIs related to client satisfaction, turnaround times, new business development, and budgetary objectives.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
* Shall possess and be able to demostrate a number of years relevant experience within an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory environment, with specific hands-on experience in testing PPE, particularly hand protection (gloves), protective footwear, and protective clothing.
* Experience within a conformity assessment environment, including a minimum of 2 years’ experience (industry requirement) making Type Examination decisions for PPE products.
* Shall have a broad and in-depth awareness of the specific legislation, safety specifications, and test methods applicable to hand protection, footwear, and protective clothing.
* Shall have a broad knowledge and understanding of production cycles, materials, and manufacturing processes for a range of PPE products.
* Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
