Position Summary
You will provide a medicines management service to patients within a prison setting with the professional support of a prison service pharmacist. You will administer medicines to patients against a valid prescription, dispense prescriptions and stock items, supervise dispensary assistants, manage stock control, and ensure high standards of work in the dispensary and clinics.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
* Provide medicines optimisation services to the prison.
* Administer medicines to offenders at the medicines administration times as part of a 7‑day per week rota.
* Undertake medicines reconciliation for prisoners admitted to the prison.
* Supervise assistants in the dispensing services.
* Act as an accredited checking technician providing final dispensing checks or medicines optimisation qualification.
* Ensure high standards of work in the dispensary, in clinics and when out on the wings and adhere to all SOPs.
* Assist the Senior Prisons Technician with writing, updating and monitoring the use of medicines optimisation SOPs.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Pharmacy Technician qualification (or equivalent).
* Valid certificate of right to work in the UK.
* Proof of ID and address documentation (5‑year address history).
* National Security Vetting (required).
* For non‑UK passport holders: appropriate right‑to‑work documentation, Home Office Share code, and a Police Certificate if less than 5 years UK address history or police check if lived abroad > six months in last 3 years.
