The sciences have long been a major strength at Jordanhill School with very high uptake and levels of academic success in biology, chemistry, and physics. Both secondary and primary children are educated in the science faculty. There are 11 Science teachers supported by 2fte of science technician service, which includes a senior technician who overseas and manages technician colleagues. The laboratories are very well equipped with excellent levels of ICT equipment.
A permanent full-time term-time position is available for a senior science technician at Jordanhill School. This position requires an individual who can demonstrate an ability to interact well with children, young people, and colleagues across the school. The duties include working with a range of equipment and materials supporting learning and teaching. The ability to lead and work as part of a team is essential as is demonstrating excellent organisational skills, initiative and customer service in a very fast paced department and environment.
Working Hours and Salary
Hours for this post are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm. The post is negotiable and can either be worked full time (52 weeks) or worked term-time (with a further three weeks’ work during the school holidays).
Full time (52 weeks) salary SCP 64 £38, (term-time equivalent £35,).
All employees are eligible for enrolment in Strathclyde Pension Fund, the local government pension provider. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme check with employment subject to satisfactory Disclosure, acceptable references and the right to work in the UK.
