Job Description:
This post creates an ideal opportunity to join a friendly, professional Oral Maxillofacial Surgery team in Scotland’s Granite City.
NHS Grampian is seeking to recruit a full-time Maxillofacial Prosthetists/Reconstructive Scientist (Agenda for Change Band 8a). The successful applicant must hold current registration with the GDC/HCPC and preferably have full membership of the IMPT.
The Maxillofacial Laboratory provides comprehensive regional Maxillofacial Prosthetics services covering North East Scotland and Highlands/Islands, serving areas such as Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, head and neck cancer cases, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Occupational Health, Neuro Surgery, Dermatology, and ENT surgery.
The main duties include:
* Providing a highly specialist Clinical Technical/Maxillofacial Prosthetic service for various surgical and dental specialties.
* Offering scientific and advisory services for patient rehabilitation using implants, splints, and prostheses in craniofacial reconstruction and related areas.
* Designing and constructing Oral Cancer appliances, Splint Therapy, Sleep Apnea, and Postoperative appliances with high skill and responsibility.
* Participating in Orthognathic surgery planning and diagnostic treatment planning.
* Training and mentoring junior staff.
* Participating in a 1:4 on-call service providing 24-hour emergency support to surgical teams.
The successful candidate will be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the main teaching hospital for North East Scotland.
