The role
As a Mechanical Senior Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll take on complex and critical maintenance tasks across aircraft and their components. Your expertise will enable you to apply advanced diagnostic techniques, solve intricate technical challenges, and ensure peak operational performance.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Maintain task authorisations for self and team in line with AMC requirements; perform fault evaluations and raise ad hoc work cards for identified issues.
2. Deliver on agreed targets in the short to medium term through effective team supervision and progress reporting to management.
3. Ensure compliance with MOE and Functionally Mandated Procedures (FMPs) by overseeing checks, managing tooling and test equipment, and supporting facility operations.
4. Provide leadership and guidance, developing team members through formal assessments (e.g., PDRs), sponsoring training, and delivering on-the-job coaching.
5. Communicate effectively, demonstrating strong people management skills to convey complex information clearly and confidently.
This role is full time working 36 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Wales.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Senior Supervisor:
6. Considerable supervisory experience with proven leadership capability.
7. Demonstrated breadth of experience supported by a Log Book evidencing skills, knowledge, and authorities for aircraft or bay work.
8. Strong leadership and technical expertise, with broad product knowledge and understanding of interfacing areas.
9. Ensure compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies, and procedures for self and team.
10. Practical experience in aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
11. Comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures.
12. Management training completed and applied effectively.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Senior Supervisor:
13. Completed Engineering Apprenticeship, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent military qualifications.
14. Minimum academic requirement: City & Guilds or in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
