Job Overview
The post was created due to a consultant psychiatrist leaving the Trust. You will join four existing consultants in the Low Secure service and contribute to high‑quality care for a culturally diverse and deprived area with high levels of mental health problems and offending behaviour.

Main Duties of the Job
* Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team on Loxford Ward.
* Deliver community supervision for a small number of patients discharged from the inpatient forensic service.
Clinical Duties of the Post Holder
* Hold consultant responsibility for approximately 10 patients under the care of the Waltham Forest Community Forensic Team and for the inpatients on Loxford Ward.
* Provide clinical leadership to the Waltham Forest Community Forensic Team and to Loxford Ward.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential criteria: MB BS or equivalent medical qualification; MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Desirable criteria: Higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management; additional clinical qualifications.
Eligibility
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of appointment.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
Transport
* Ability to travel within East London and between clinical sites.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge and understanding of forensic psychiatry.
* Excellent clinical skills using a bi‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
* Can meet duties under MHA and MCA.
Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning
* Interest in and experience of Quality Improvement work.
* Participated in continuous professional development.
* Can use and appraise clinical evidence.
* Has actively participated in clinical audit.
