About the Role
A client of Melbury Wood are seeking an experienced and strategic Account Director to lead advocacy and local engagement programmes across London’s built environment, housing, and infrastructure sectors. This role combines policy insight with stakeholder management expertise, helping clients navigate complex planning, political and community landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead client accounts in the housing, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
 * Develop advocacy and stakeholder engagement strategies to support planning consents, regeneration schemes, and infrastructure delivery.
 * Manage local political engagement with London boroughs and regional stakeholders.
 * Support national policy and public affairs campaigns, particularly around energy, net zero, and infrastructure investment.
 * Line manage and mentor junior consultants.
 * Oversee monitoring of political, policy and planning developments across London and nationally.
 * Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the built environment and energy sectors.
 * Build and maintain a strong network of industry, political, and stakeholder contacts.
 * Contribute to proposals, pitches, and thought leadership content.
Must have experience
 * Proven experience in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, or communications within the built environment or energy sectors.
 * Strong understanding of London’s political and planning environment.
 * Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
 * Experience managing multiple client accounts and mentoring team members.
 * Strong written and verbal communication skills
