Lighting Technician Job Description
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our team based in Hertfordshire in the role of Lighting Technician.
Salary: Up to £35,000 + Company Benefits
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performance lighting design, implementation, and operation, with a focus on live music and events. You should be proficient in at least one of our preferred console platforms: GrandMA, Avolites, or Chamsys. An excellent working knowledge of general production techniques, including IT, rigging, power distribution, and data distribution, along with familiarity with the latest technologies and best practices, is essential. A good understanding of electrical theory and basic fault-finding skills are also required. Experience in other production disciplines like audio or video would be highly beneficial.
Responsibilities:
1. Represent the company on site as part of engineering teams delivering high-standard technical solutions.
2. Install and maintain bespoke production lighting systems following plans and briefs.
3. Troubleshoot and fault-find systems as required.
4. Adopt a creative approach to problem-solving and react swiftly to changing circumstances.
5. Supervise subcontracted staff to ensure company standards are maintained.
6. Liaise with clients on site to meet their expectations.
7. Build positive relationships with venues and ensure project delivery within parameters.
8. Act as an ambassador for the business at all times.
9. Provide pre-production support to the Project Management team.
10. Assist with preparing plans and paperwork for projects.
11. Collaborate with Project Managers to understand project requirements, briefs, and deadlines.
12. Share expertise to develop and grow other staff.
13. Assist the Warehouse Teams in preparing equipment.
14. Support the Operations Team with equipment maintenance as required.
15. Advise on technical queries and recommend new equipment investments.
16. Continuously learn and develop technical and interpersonal skills.
17. Seek guidance and support when necessary.
18. Stay informed about trends and technologies in lighting, audio, video, and staging.
19. Maintain a professional appearance when face-to-face with clients.
20. Promote best practices in project delivery and health & safety.
21. Operate within all protocols and procedures.
22. Maintain a positive, proactive attitude towards challenges.
23. Assist senior leadership in improving company processes and procedures.
24. Perform any other reasonably requested tasks.
