About This Role
CAE is an international high-tech company, specialized in training and operational support solutions in civil aviation and defense and security. Its Legal department, which spans the globe, is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (Corporate, Commercial and Contract Law EUME) who has a diversified legal experience, a positive and proactive attitude, and is an excellent team player.
Key responsibilities of the role:
1. Write, revise, comment on and negotiate different types of contracts and documents related to all activities carried out by the businesses, mainly in the civil field, including, as examples, sales contracts, licenses, financing/lease agreements, assets or company acquisitions, service contracts (including training agreements), joint ventures, strategic partnerships, bids, and tenders
2. Advise the various internal stakeholders on all types of legal matters, including on the interpretation of laws and regulations applicable to the business activities
3. With the various stakeholders, participate in developing and implementing various types of contracts and internal policies in line with the current business needs and anticipated growth
4. Manage claims by and/or against third parties
5. Coordinate the various files assigned to outside law firms.
6. Participate in the development of tools (like templates/standard agreements, FAQ documentation, policy papers and training tools) for the legal department and for the other CAE departments.
Our ideal candidate
7. Has an excellent command of English (oral and written) and good writing skills
8. Is well organised and acquainted with document management systems/tools
9. Holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (common law or equivalent experience is sought for)
10. Has a minimum of seven years' relevant experience within a company or a law firm
11. Problem-solving skills, a customer-focus and team spirit
12. Ability to work under pressure with a variety of clients
13. Ability to efficiently manage priorities
14. Autonomous and innate team spirit
15. A love of learning and knowledge sharing
16. Initiative, a proactive attitude, and a sense of leadership
17. Proficient skills in the use of Microsoft Office, mainly Word, and functional skills in the use of PowerPoint and Excel.
Contract details & location
The position offers hybrid working and is based at our Commercial Aviation Training Centre in Gatwick. or alternatively Burgess Hill, West Sussex. We are offering a full-time and permanent contract. The working hours of the role are Monday to Friday, 39 hours a week. This role requires flexibility to travel.
