We have an exciting opportunity for an Emergency Planning & Resilience Manager to join our Safety team at Rail House. This is a key role where you’ll lead how Merseyrail prepares for, responds to, and recovers from emergencies and business continuity events. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Operations, Stations, Trains, Safety, and external emergency partners to make sure we are robust, confident and ready when it matters most. If you’re calm under pressure, enjoy coordinating people and plans, and can bring clarity during fast‑moving situations — this is a role where you will make a real difference.
In This Role, You Will
* Lead the coordination and maintenance of Merseyrail’s Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans
* Plan and deliver table‑top exercises and live emergency drills with colleagues and external partners
* Work with departments across the business to ensure continuity plans are up-to-date and fit for purpose
* Liaise with local resilience forums, emergency services and transport partners
* Provide guidance and support to colleagues during incidents and post‑incident reviews
* Conduct business impact assessments and support risk assessments across emergency planning activity
* Coordinate actions and lessons learned to strengthen our response capability
* Act as the main point of contact for external emergency planning partners
This is a role that touches every part of the business. You will be visible, connected, and involved in real operational delivery.
What You’ll Bring To Merseyrail
* Experience in emergency planning, resilience, crisis response or safety management
* The ability to coordinate, influence and communicate clearly with people at all levels
* Confidence planning and running training, drills or simulated exercises
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to assess risk and make sound decisions
Essential Qualifications
* NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Fire Safety
* Experience in rail or a similar safety‑critical / operational environment
