We are seeking to appoint a visionary leader with a passion for learning to lead the Closeburn and Penpont Primary Schools Partnership. The Headteacher role is non-class committed and supported by a full-time Principal Teacher in each school. Closeburn Primary also has a Nursery managed by a Nursery Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to shape educational provision within a dynamic community that values high aspirations for all.
Located north of Dumfries in the Nithsdale area, both schools benefit from good facilities and scenic views over farmland and forest. Nearby towns include Thornhill and Dumfries, offering vibrant communities and amenities. The region is known for agriculture, forestry, and tourism, with affordable housing and accessible transport. The schools are supported by active Parent Councils.
Dumfries and Galloway's education approach combines traditional values with innovative 21st-century practices. We seek a leader with proven primary education leadership experience, high standards of achievement, and a vision for developing a culture of sharing and learning. Our authority focuses on building staff skills to improve teaching, raise attainment, and develop strong leadership at all levels.
Applicants are encouraged to attend a virtual information session to learn more about the schools and ask questions. Sign up here: https://forms.office.com/e/Du95xzYT2d
