Job Description:
Responsible for supervising and managing the operation of the installation’s marine systems and associated equipment in accordance with design, UKCS legislation, classification society rules, and flag state legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the installation’s marine systems with minimal environmental impact.
* Ensure thorough knowledge of the operating safety case and performance standards to maintain asset integrity.
* Act as the Responsible Person/Area Authority for all operations in the Marine Department requiring a work permit, ensuring safety precautions are followed.
* Identify risks in marine systems and establish procedures to mitigate them.
* Ensure all personnel understand safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, and company policies.
* Communicate closely with the HSE Advisor on HSEQ matters.
* Provide guidance on safe working practices in compliance with the Safety Management Systems (SMS).
* Maintain accurate records; ensure manuals and drawings are current and updated.
* Review compliance with SMS and update documentation as needed.
* Operate the installation according to marine procedures.
* Liaise with Production and Maintenance Supervisors to ensure safe operations and environmental compliance.
* Manage the safe isolation and reactivation of process equipment following maintenance.
* Guide staff on safe operations of marine systems.
* Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor on planned maintenance tasks.
* Ensure accurate completion of marine logs, vessel movements, weather reports, and tank contents.
* Coordinate with onshore logistics for vessel routing and requirements.
* Communicate effectively with Deck Foreman on vessel and operational activities.
* Plan fuel loading according to procedures.
* Maintain tank inspection plans in line with RBI class and verification requirements.
* Operate and maintain mooring and offtake systems.
* Supervise Marine Control Room Operators, ensuring systems operate within design parameters.
* Maintain records of crane and helicopter operations.
* Perform other tasks as required.
People/Department Management Responsibilities:
Oversee department operations by providing guidance, supervision, and direction.
* Conduct regular appraisals and identify training needs.
* Manage conduct and behavior of team members.
* Ensure attendance at safety and operational meetings.
* Monitor workloads and progress.
* Manage onboard resources to promote efficiency and flexibility.
