Senior Underwriter – NA Open Market Property

As an experienced Underwriter, you will be responsible for working within authority limits on assignments reflecting a high level of technical complexity, with coordination under broad management direction. Your key responsibilities will include underwriting business in line with the business plan, assisting in planning and forecasting, monitoring aggregate exposure and premium income within limits, ensuring all risks are within maximum limits, maintaining awareness of claims, supporting claim settlements, building relationships with brokers and clients, supporting risk design, and identifying new product opportunities.
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.
Responsibilities include:
1. Underwrite and manage renewal books and new business, developing strategies to increase market share.
2. Exercise discretion and judgment in risk analysis and evaluation.
3. Participate in risk assessment discussions and mentor peers.
4. Negotiate with producers within delegated authority to meet profit goals.
5. Build relationships with brokers and clients, and establish new distribution channels.
6. Maintain expertise in products, services, and target markets.
7. Represent the company at industry events and lead client and broker meetings to educate on risk.
8. Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
9. Support business planning, monitor financial exposure, and premium income.
10. Maintain awareness of claims and support claim settlement processes.
11. Identify and develop new product opportunities, cross-market with other lines, and cultivate broker relationships.
12. Work under broad management on complex assignments, utilizing expert technical knowledge.
13. Provide guidance to junior underwriters and other teams.
You will report to the Underwriting Manager.
