Maintenance Team Leader (Mechanical) Coalville, Leicestershire Days, 50 hours per week, alternating Saturday mornings £18-£20 per hour (£46,800-£52,000 per year) + Call-out
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join a busy manufacturer in Coalville. This is a practical, leadership role where you will guide a small maintenance team, take ownership of planned and reactive tasks, and set the standard for safety, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a small maintenance team (Maintenance Manager, newly qualified engineer, apprentice, experienced engineer) on day-to-day mechanical tasks
* Take a hands-on approach with breakdowns, PPMs, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Ensure Health & Safety policies are followed and lead by example
* Support team development through training, mentoring, and guidance
* Manage job reporting and maintain accurate records
* Organise spares, critical assets, and consumables
* Assist with contractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to site procedures
* Stand in for the Maintenance Manager when required
* Be part of the call-out rota (1 in /4)
Candidate Requirements:
* Completed Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering apprenticeship
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
* Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic knowledge with understanding of electrical systems
* Proven experience leading or supervising a maintenance team
* Ability to challenge and support team members to achieve performance and quality standards
* Good organisational and communication skills
* Flexible and willing to cover on-call duties and overtime
