The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Visiting Music Teacher to join our vibrant Music Department.
You will deliver high-quality individual cello lessons to pupils from Year 2 to Year 8, inspiring and developing young musicians. The successful candidate will have a strong background in music and teaching, with a commitment to fostering musical excellence and achievement. In addition, you will run a string ensemble as agreed with the Director of Music.
This position is a permanent, part-time, zero-hours role, offering approximately 3 hours per week based on the needs of the timetable (hours to be agreed), and is paid at £19.25 per pupil per lesson.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Teaching 30-minute individual Cello lessons to pupils from Year 2 to Year 8.
* Providing between 28-30 lessons per pupil per academic year.
* Planning lessons with tailored objectives to meet individual pupil needs.
* Encouraging participation across all ability levels and monitoring progress.
* Setting targets and supporting pupils with practice requirements.
* Preparing pupils for music exams, concerts, and auditions.
* Writing progress reports and communicating with parents as required.
* Running a string ensemble as agreed with the Director of Music.
* Supporting Music Department events, including concerts, as agreed with the Director of Music.
* Fostering a culture of excellence, commitment, and aspiration within the department.
What we’re looking for:
* Educated to degree level with a relevant specialism.
* Ability to teach pupils aged 6-13 and play the cello to a high standard.
* Experience delivering inspiring lessons to pupils of all ages and abilities.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* High expectations for pupil achievement and conduct.
* Passion for musical excellence and best practice.
* Qualified Teacher Status or a postgraduate qualification.
* Experience in a Prep School setting.
* Ability to accompany.
