The Role: Retirement Income Specialist - Part time Join M&G’s newly formed Retirement Income Specialist Team within Distribution. We seek passionate individuals who thrive on helping advisers and brokers deliver outstanding client outcomes. As a Retirement Income Specialist, you will empower Financial Advisers and Annuity Brokers to grow their businesses and position M&G as their provider of choice. You’ll collaborate closely with the Strategic Account Manager Retirement Income (SAMRI), support Intermediated Distribution sales teams, and represent Distribution at proposition meetings. This hybrid role is part time - 3 days per week, with 1 of these days to be based in the office. Key Responsibilities Pre-Launch Support Strategic Account Manager Retirement Income with business development, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. Represent Distribution at internal Individual Lifetime Annuity (ILA) meetings when Strategic Account Manager Retirement Income is unavailable. Develop and manage the Retirement Income Specialist team’s contact management system in partnership with the Salesforce team. Identify and engage new strategic accounts for ILA, building your own panel of annuity brokers. Support Distribution with PGIP enquiries and provide updates for weekly reports and rate changes. Assist with training Distribution teams on ILA digital functionality (quote and apply processes). Act as a liaison between proposition, service, and Distribution teams. Post-Launch Manage and grow a panel of strategic annuity accounts. Pursue large annuity cases and expand specialist annuity accounts. Provide technical and sales support for ILA to Distribution. Deliver digital proposition training to accounts and support teams. Support the launch of non-advised drawdown solutions (as required). Handle telephony and support functions. Generate leads and facilitate introductions to Distribution teams, upselling ILA to PGIP or PruFund drawdown. Maintain the Retirement Income Specialist team contact management system with Salesforce. Continue representing Distribution at internal ILA meetings as needed. Support Distribution for PGIP enquiries and updates. Maintain strong links between proposition, service, and Distribution. Key Accountabilities Deliver high-quality service to advisers, annuity brokers, and stakeholders, leveraging practical experience and training. Educate advisers and strategic partners to become self-sufficient with digital and product journeys. Communicate critical annuity factors (rate changes, quote and servicing pipeline management) to advisers and partners. Proactively identify and follow up on annuity opportunities, maximizing sales in line with business plans. Engage with advisers and partners to support new business opportunities. Work within established frameworks, interpreting procedures to solve a range of problems. Drive improvements in team practices and outputs through collaboration. Take ownership of personal development, pursuing company-sponsored training and skills sessions. Strengthen positive risk and control culture by identifying, assessing, and managing risk. Understand and apply the M&G Code of Conduct. Comply with all relevant policies, including mandatory training and CPD requirements. Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience Experience in the Financial Advice sector and regulated sales environments. Strong knowledge of industry best practice and external networks. Relevant professional qualification (Level 4 PFS or equivalent preferred) or willingness to work towards this. Proven relationship development, communication, and influencing skills. Knowledge of M&G propositions, systems, and distribution approach. Expertise in retirement solutions (annuities, fixed-term annuities), markets, and competitors. Good understanding of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks. Strong team ethic, drive, and delivery focus. Customer-facing experience essential; financial services experience desirable. Commercial mindset, resilience, confidence, and enthusiasm. Ability to work under pressure, handle objections, and think creatively. Independent and team-oriented work style; strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills. Accountability and ownership for delivery. Effective communication skills for interpreting requirements, resolving issues, and managing complex enquiries.
