We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Principal or Associate Public Health Design Engineer to join our expanding team in London.
As an experienced professional who ideally holds professional accreditation or is actively pursuing it, you will bring an extensive portfolio demonstrating your expertise and capabilities.
You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects, and your project range will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.
Responsibilities
* Support project delivery in providing public health design engineering services to a varied client base. Projects will be varied from complex high-value large commercial, fit‑out and refurbishments to minor schemes.
* Support coordination and ensuring they are delivered to the highest technical standards.
* Monitor the quality control on projects to ensure the company quality standards are being achieved, prepare calculations/specifications and drawings, ensuring they comply with the client brief.
* Conduct performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and identify skill gaps and opportunities for learning & development as a line manager.
* Ensuring all additional work undertaken is appropriately identified and additional fees are claimed where appropriate.
* Complete project references/presentations to be utilised for marketing purposes. Including developing a deep network of contacts within the industry and with clients.
* Produce or assist in developing fee proposals and presentations.
* As a project lead, evaluate project challenges, identify and develop solutions for new projects, mitigate risks, and develop opportunities in the future.

* Review all calculations, specifications and drawings to ensure they are appropriate and comply with the client brief.
Background & Qualifications
* MSc or BSc in Building Services Engineering Design, with Chartered Engineer status and professional membership of SoPHE are desirable.
* Expertise in Public Health Design Engineering, covering domestic hot and cold water services, soil, waste, rainwater drainage, and both above and below ground drainage.
* Experience with rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, solar hot water, and innovative design solutions is advantageous.
* Proven experience in commercial (new build, refurbishments, and fit‑out), residential, and mixed‑use developments from concept to detailed design.
* Strong knowledge of Building Services Engineering Systems, including their performance, application, and operation.
* A proactive, adaptable, and approachable engineer with excellent client-facing and communication skills, demonstrating initiative at all levels.
