At Cakehead are passionate about making great cakes and delivering fantastic Customer service from our production facility in Oakham Rutland and our site in Wellingborough Northants.
We are a fast growing company for our own brand selling into independent Deli's and Garden Centres as well as for out white labels Customers. We produce a range of award winning cakes, tray bakes and brownies. We offer a rare opportunity to work exclusively with first class raw materials and making products from scratch with natural ingredients and no pre-mixes.
As our Raw Materials and Packaging Manager, you will have responsibility for the optimization of raw material flow ensuring the production team have full availability of the required materials at the required time. This is a great role for somebody who is numerate, flexible, and relishes change.
The Raw Materials Manager will be responsible for some of the following tasks, among others:
* Manage inbound materials to the site in line with production requirements
* Communicate supply shortfalls and investigate contingency plans
* Review the weekly, monthly production plan and work collaboratively within the team to ensure materials are available to meet the schedule
* Review stock holding/MOQ with suppliers
* Liaise and work closely with suppliers controlling supply and contracts
* Manage material changes on site.
* Investigate material discrepancies
* Manage system and supply chain performance parameters such as supplier contact information, lead times, minimum order quantities and schedules
* Manage onsite stock to agreed levels
* Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment
Key knowledge, skills and experience:
* Address issues proactively and responds to routine issues with minimal direction
* Excellent communication skills & ability to present to and influence key stakeholders
* Computer literate – must have a high level of MS Excel knowledge
* Knowledge of supply planning systems
* Good level of planning, numerate with strong analytical skills
* Ability to prioritise and build relationships with key contacts
* Adopts a "customer comes first" philosophy
* High accuracy with good attention to detail and ability to spot errors quickly
* Flexible when required to support business needs
* MRP/Raw materials experience
* Experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (ideal)
