Team Leader Children's Home (Autism, L/D, Complex Needs)

Salary: £, per annum + £. per sleep in
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Shifts: Long shifts & regular sleep-ins required
Experience: Essential – must have experience in similar children’s residential settings
We’re supporting the residential home in Southampton area, designed to provide therapeutic, person-centred care to children and young people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and complex needs. We’re looking for strong, compassionate Team Leader who can help shape a high-quality care environment from day one.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Act as a role model to junior staff and provide leadership on shift
2. Deliver high-quality, individualised care and support to young people with autism, L/D, and complex needs
3. Support the Deputy and Registered Manager with daily operations, team coordination and care planning
4. Promote positive behaviour through a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach
5. Oversee and contribute to risk assessments, support plans, and safeguarding processes
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, incident reports, and daily logs
7. Participate in multi-agency working, attending meetings and advocating for the young people
8. Support new staff with mentoring, induction, and training
9. Engage in long shifts and regular sleep-ins as part of a consistent, stable care routine
What We're Looking For in a Team Leader:
10. Minimum Level 2 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent – essential)
11. Experience in a children’s residential setting supporting autism/L&D/complex needs
12. Confident working independently and leading a shift
13. A strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management and children’s regulations
14. Resilience, commitment, and a genuine passion for improving young lives
